Following Thursday’s WrestleMania 36 press conference, TalkSPORT had the opportunity to chat with Roman Reigns about several topics.
It’s no secret that Dean Ambrose is likely on his way out of WWE when his contract expires in late April. The Usos have contracts expiring soon and there’s no word on if they plan on staying with the company or going elsewhere.
We previously reported that Reigns told a fan at an autograph signing that he would work on trying to get Ambrose to stay with WWE. On Thursday, he was asked if he puts pressure on himself to convince his friends to say.
“I think I put a little bit more pressure on myself to be more than just a friend and a peer,” Reigns said. “The Usos… obviously they are my family. But Dean is the same way. A lot of these guys are. That’s what people don’t realize, it’s not just these names that you know, but I’m so close to so many of these guys.”
Reigns also mentioned The B-Team, Finn Balor, Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson as guys he is close to and it’s hard for him when contract situations come up but he tries to give his own perspective on what he might do in a similar situation.
Reigns added that guys like The Usos and Ambrose are businessmen and “when it comes down to it this is business and these men are businessmen and they’re going to have to take care of themselves and get the numbers and the years on the contracts that they want.”
He added, “But yeah, for me, I can only give them the advice that I would want and that is to be happy and that’s what I’ll tell them. Whatever that entails, do what you have to do to make you and your family happy. For me and my family, that’s having the same people around me that I’ve had and that’s the hard part is seeing people go. But, the cool part is, when people go, some people are introduced. As some old faces leave, we have new faces and new relationships and new bonds and new chemistry.”
Another interesting tidbit is that Reigns found out about Ambrose’s decision to leave WWE by reading about it online.
On a conference call with Roman Reigns. He says he found out about Dean Ambrose leaving the company in an article online. Did not get the heads up.
