Dean Ambrose reportedly leaving WWE after contract expires in April

Unless Vince McMahon is able to change his mind, WWE is going to lose a top star in a few months.

Wade Keller at PWTorch is reporting that Dean Ambrose has given his notice to WWE and he will be finishing up with the company at the end of April. This news comes courtesy of three sources in the company.

Ambrose told management over the weekend and then told Vince McMahon directly in a meeting after he was offered a new contract and a raise several weeks ago.

Ambrose has been frustrated with the creative direction of his character and he told management over the weekend that he is not interested in negotiating further. Ambrose also let them know that he isn’t trying to get more money.

Ambrose is hard to read so it wasn’t clear to everyone backstage at the Royal Rumble or at Raw that something was off. Only his small circle of friends knew that he planned on leaving the company.

Obviously, this will lead to speculation that he will want to sign with AEW but it’s too early to speculate since he won’t be legally able to sign with another wrestling company until late April.
