Despite WWE Interest, Daniel Garcia Believed To Be Staying In AEW

It looks like AEW is going to keep Daniel Garica under contract despite WWE’s interest.

Garcia returned to AEW programming during MJF vs. Will Ospreay for the International Title at the AEW All In: London 2024 pay-per-view event from Wembley Stadium. He did so when he appeared and took off a mask. He punched MJF, leading to Ospreay going over.

This was after Garcia had been off AEW television since earlier this month following an angle on Dynamite, where MJF turned heel and attacked him. Fans have speculated whether he signed a new deal since he’s back. As previously reported by PWInsider.com, Garcia has still yet to sign a new deal. His contract is up in October 2024.

AEW President Tony Khan said while speaking at the All In media scrum that he sees Garcia’s involvement at the PPV as a ‘good sign’ and doesn’t want to publicly comment on anyone’s contract. Khan praised Garcia and said they love having him in AEW.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that “One has to think bringing him back is the indication he’s staying. Those in WWE seemed to believe that. When the angle was done, several close to the situation noted that they expected him to stay but he had considered WWE, which was trying to recruit him.”

Like Swerve Strickland, those in WWE felt that the offers AEW made to both stars were overmarket value.
