Diamond Dallas Page: Buff Bagwell Has ‘Been Sober For Three Years’

Marcus “Buff” Bagwell has reportedly been sober for three years. Bagwell has struggled with addiction issues for years, a battle that was documented in part through his work with Diamond Dallas Page. Speaking on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, DDP confirmed that Bagwell is currently clean and that their personal relationship has improved significantly.

“He’s clean now, yeah. [He’s been sober] for three years,” Page said.

Page admitted that he used to limit the time he spent with Bagwell because of his behavior, noting a distinction between the person “Marcus” and the character “Buff.”

“There was only a certain time limit that I would allow myself to be with Marcus,” Page said. “I’ve always loved Marcus. I stopped calling him Buff because Buff’s an asshole. I don’t want to be around him, so I would have my 15-minute meter.”

However, a recent dinner party hosted by Page’s daughter changed that dynamic. Page noted that he was initially worried about how long he could handle being around Bagwell, but the evening turned out to be a success.

“We’re sitting right there, we can’t help but talk the whole time,” Page said. “I called him up later. I said, ‘Dude, that’s the best time I’ve had with you since you were like 24.'”
