Many fans have been asking about Randy Orton’s jab at Brock Lesnar during his segment on Chris Jericho’s Highlight Reel at WWE Battleground. Orton was asked about how he will deal with Lesnar taking Orton to Suplex City and Orton’s response was, “it only takes one RKO to get to Viperville. No enhancement needed.” Obviously, that was a reference to Lesnar’s drug test failure with USADA.
Dave Meltzer was asked about Orton’s promo during Wrestling Observer Radio on Tuesday morning. He said that the promo was indeed scripted and it was not something that Orton ad-libbed. I’m not surprised since Lesnar’s drug test failure was such a huge story on mainstream news sites so it’s not like WWE can run away from the story and they did bring up Roman Reigns’ wellness policy violation on Raw. With that said, I doubt that they will bring it up again.
Lesnar is still scheduled to wrestle at SummerSlam and there is no indication that he will be suspended by WWE. Lesnar was flagged for samples collected on 6/28 and 7/9 (the night of his fight at UFC 200 with Mark Hunt) and he is awaiting word from the Nevada State Athletic Commission on what his punishment will be. USADA suggests a two-year suspension for a positive drug test but the NSAC has the discretion to determine the length of absence from MMA.
