Disco Inferno Threatens Cody Rhodes After Being Namedropped On SmackDown

Disco Inferno has fired back at Cody Rhodes with a tongue-in-cheek threat after the Undisputed WWE Champion namedropped him during an intense promo on the April 3 episode of SmackDown, comparing the revelation of Pat McAfee as Randy Orton’s mystery caller to one of professional wrestling’s most deflating hypothetical scenarios.

Rhodes had returned to SmackDown later in the night following a brutal attack from a returning McAfee and Orton, delivering a promo that dripped with sarcasm over the identity of the mystery caller that had been teased for weeks. He reached for a famous point of comparison to illustrate his disappointment. “We all got dressed up to find out who it was that Randy was talking to on the phone,” Rhodes said. “Then it was Pat McAfee. That is the same as the third member of the nWo not being Hulk Hogan, but Disco Inferno.”

Disco Inferno wasted little time responding on social media, delivering a geographically specific threat rooted in their shared Georgia roots. “If I catch Cody Rhodes on Old Canton Road when I go back to visit my mom, that boy might get a good old fashioned Marietta tushy kickin’,” Disco wrote.

Rhodes previously called out Disco Inferno on social media in response to criticism Disco leveled at modern wrestling.

Rhodes defends the Undisputed WWE Championship against Randy Orton in the Night 1 main event of WrestleMania 42 on April 18 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada.
