WWE.com caught up with Dr. Jeffrey Dugas recently and asked him about John Cena’s surgery that was performed this past Thursday.
“He had a complete tear of a small portion of the rear rotator cuff tendon, the infraspinatus — toward the top-back of his shoulder — which I repaired,” Dr. Dugas told WWE.com. “Also, there was a large piece of loose tissue in his shoulder that needed to be removed.”
The doctor noted there was some deterioration in the AC joint.
“The first hurdle is getting the cuts to heal and getting cartilage to form over the defect,“ Dugas said. “After that, we’ll get back to function.”
Cena is expected to miss WrestleMania 32.
