Dolph Ziggler returned to WWE to attack Kofi Kingston

Dolph Ziggler returned to SmackDown Live to brutally attack WWE Champion Kofi Kingston.

It all started after Kingston defeated Sami Zayn in a non-title match. After the match, Paul Heyman made a surprise appearance and teased that Brock Lesnar would cash in his Money In The Bank briefcase.

Ziggler attacked Kingston while he was distracted in and out of the ring. He ended his attack by wrapping a chair around and ramming Kingston into the announcer’s table.

Kingston was put on a stretched but ended up getting up and walking to the back under his own power.

Before Kingston’s match with Zayn, Big E was shown laid out backstage and the announcers explained that Xavier Woods was not at ringside because he went to the local medical facility with Big E.

Later in the show, Ziggler explained his actions. He said that he’s been sitting at home while Kingston has been taking opportunities to become the man on SmackDown Live. Ziggler challenged Kingston to a WWE Championship match at Super ShowDown in Saudi Arabia.

Here’s a couple of clips from Ziggler’s return.

Ziggler’s was last seen on WWE programming back in January when he was called at the last minute for a Royal Rumble appearance.

Since that time, he has been on hiatus and he’s been doing stand up comedy. The time away was something he’s wanted so he could freshen up his character.
