Dominik Mysterio Admits He Did Not Think Judgment Day Would Succeed: ‘It Felt Weird And Hokey’

Dominik Mysterio says he was not sold on Judgment Day when he first joined the faction. The group was founded by Edge in April 2022, but lost its leader just two months later when he was written out of the stable. Damian Priest, Rhea Ripley, and Finn Balor were left to rebuild the faction’s identity before Dominik Mysterio joined in September 2022.

Speaking with The Collection, Mysterio said he had serious doubts about the group early on. “No, not at all,” Mysterio said when asked if he thought Judgment Day would find success. “I fought it for a long time. It felt weird and hokey at the very beginning of it.”

Mysterio said things changed when the group connected outside the ring. “Something happened where all four of us clicked, and I think that is kind of what made it work, because we all kind of clicked outside of the ring,” Mysterio said. “We were all riding together, so it all kind of transitioned to inside of the ring. And man, it just worked.”

Mysterio pointed to the faction’s consistent presence at the top of WWE as proof of its success. “There is not one time in Judgment Day where we have not had a championship, or all of us covered in gold, or constantly kicking people out to bring people in,” Mysterio said. “It is crazy. It is insane.”

Mysterio also highlighted the faction’s role at Survivor Series, which served as John Cena’s final Premium Live Event. This is where Mysterio beat Cena to win back the Intercontinental Title thanks to the help from a returning Liv Morgan.
