Dominik Mysterio Fires Back At CM Punk’s “Unreal” Comments

In an interview on “The TWC Show,” WWE Intercontinental Champion “Dirty” Dominik Mysterio fired back at a recent comment made by CM Punk, delivering a sharp retort that referenced Punk’s own unsuccessful career in the UFC.

The Original Comment

The exchange began when CM Punk, while promoting the “Unreal” docuseries, made a comment about the believability of certain storylines. As recounted by the show’s hosts, Punk stated that “nothing exposes the business more than trying to convince people that Dom and Rhea were in an actual relationship.”

The Clapback

When asked for his response to Punk’s comment, Mysterio did not hold back, referencing Punk’s two decisive losses in his brief UFC career. “Actually, nothing exposed the business more than trying to go to UFC and then getting your ass kicked and then coming back to wrestling,” Mysterio stated.

The direct and pointed nature of Mysterio’s comeback garnered praise from the hosts, who noted his quick wit and confidence in going after one of the most respected talkers in the industry.

A Smirk from the “Godfather”

Mysterio also shared his personal reaction to the chaos that ensued at SummerSlam, where Seth Rollins cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on a victorious CM Punk. He revealed that Rollins is one of his “Padrinos,” or “godfathers,” in the Lucha Libre tradition, as they debuted together. “I was so excited when I heard his music… He drops the crutches. I was so stoked, smiling from ear to ear, screaming. I was just, I was just happy,” Mysterio recalled. “Other than night two at SummerSlam, that was my favorite moment of the weekend.”

Dominik Mysterio is coming off a successful title defense against AJ Styles at SummerSlam and is a featured star on Monday Night Raw as a member of The Judgment Day. The full interview can be heard on “The TWC Show” podcast.
