When asked for his “brutally honest” opinion about recent WWE signees Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix on Busted Open Radio, new Intercontinental Champion Dominik Mysterio offered a scathing assessment. Regarding their arrival, he quipped, “I mean, took them long enough, right?” Mysterio then mocked the prevalence of masked wrestlers in Lucha Libre and beyond.
“I mean, we got… What is it? 12, 13 guys with masks on… they all hide their face,” Mysterio said dismissively. “I’m a good looking dude. I don’t need to wear a mask.” Invoking wrestling history to make his point, Dominik referenced a famous angle involving the late Eddie Guerrero. “If you go back, if you go back to that WCW, Eddie segment where he de masks everyone. There’s a reason these guys wear a mask,” Mysterio asserted, implying inferiority behind the masks.
He had more harsh words for the Lucha Brothers, dismissing their relevance entirely. “…I could give a sh*t about penta and Fenix. They’re all fossils at this point, compared to me,” Dominik declared. Citing his own recent victories over Penta as proof of his superiority: “I already beat Penta… beat him again… I am, I am the greatest luchador Mysterio of all, it doesn’t even compare. These guys aren’t on my playing field.”
