Drew McIntyre On Cody Rhodes’ WWE Title Reign: ‘We’re Sick Of The Reruns’

Drew McIntyre has made his championship ambitions crystal clear, and the man at the top of his list is the current Undisputed WWE Champion, Cody Rhodes. McIntyre thinks that fans are “sick of the reruns of Cody reruns” and that the “winds of change are blowing through WWE.”

“Sick of the Reruns”

In a recent interview with Adam Glyn for the Adam’s Apple YouTube channel, McIntyre was asked about his hope to win the WWE Championship again. He used the opportunity to take a direct shot at the current champion.

“Well, putting in the time, putting in the work, getting screwed over left and right. Let’s just say the winds have changed. The winds of change are blowing through WWE. All these big deals, these billion dollar deals. I think we need a new champion. We’re sick of the reruns of Cody reruns. Let’s get Drew McIntyre front and center, finally.”

The “Clash Curse”

McIntyre also referenced his history of championship losses at WWE’s UK premium live events, specifically the two Clash at the Castle shows where he came up short. He shared his frustration with what he calls the “Clash curse” and stated his focus is now squarely on getting a championship match with Cody Rhodes.

“Take another one, a redo. Since the Clash at the Castle has never been kind to me, [I’ve been] screwed in front of my people twice… I just want that match. When Cody decides to show it back up, I want that title, and let’s start a new era.”

The two are reportedly set to meet at WrestlePalooza next month. You can hear the full interview with Drew McIntyre on the Adam’s Apple YouTube channel.
