Following this attack, McIntyre took to social media to mention getting “real glass” in his eye from the attack. McIntyre’s “real glass” comment directly references a backstage altercation between CM Punk and Jack Perry at AEW’s All In: London 2023.
Perry’s on-air comment, referencing Punk’s opposition to real glass being used on AEW Collision, sparked a physical fight between them, leading to their suspension and Punk’s eventual firing from AEW.
Reports from PWInsider.com confirm that the “glass in his eye” part of McIntyre’s tweet was based on a real injury from the attack.
