Drew McIntyre Made History At WWE WrestleMania 40

Things didn’t go exactly how Drew McIntyre thought they would at WWE WrestleMania 40.

McIntyre challenged Seth Rollins for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at the WrestleMania XL premium live event from Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night. This was the opening bout of the second night.

The finish saw McIntyre go over with two claymore kicks. After the match, McIntyre celebrated with his wife at ringside before getting into the face of CM Punk, who was on commentary for the match.

They exchanged words before McIntyre got into Punk’s face, leading to Punk attacking him. This led Damian Priest to come out to cash in his Money in the Bank briefcase and win the title.

McIntyre has joined Brock Lesnar, The Undertaker, Rollins, and John Cena as the only stars who have become a new World Champion at WrestleMania with two or more different World Titles. McIntyre previously won the WWE Title from Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 36 in 2020.
