WWE Superstar Drew McIntyre made a surprise return to Raw last night, attacking Sami Zayn during the show’s final segment.
PWInsider.com had reported last week that WWE creative had been discussing McIntyre’s return, but it was not expected to happen so soon. The belief backstage is that the injury to Bronson Reed at Survivor Series led to McIntyre’s return being moved up a few weeks.
McIntyre had been advertised for WWE’s holiday week live events, including Madison Square Garden, so he would have been back in the ring soon anyway. However, his return last night means he is now immediately involved in WWE storylines.
It is unclear what McIntyre’s plans are now that he has returned, but his attack on Zayn suggests he may be involved in the ongoing storyline with The Bloodline.
