Drew McIntyre says he would’ve dropped Brock Lesnar if he tried any “funny business” at WWE WrestleMania 36

WWE Superstar and Champion Drew McIntyre recently appeared on SiriusXM’s Busted Open Radio. The Scottish performer would discuss a litany of topics from his recent career in the company, including his WrestleMania 36 match against Brock Lesnar.

“I mean I’d be lying and if I said I wasn’t a little nervous.” McIntyre would begin. “I felt fully prepared, as much as I could be, but I still get the butterflies and I’ll always get the butterflies especially with such a big match. And with the circumstances changing the way they did? Nobody knew what to expect.”

McIntyre would then discuss the atmosphere inside of Performance Center when he and Lesnar participated in the match itself. “It wasn’t until I was actually in the building. I was backstage waiting for my entrance at WrestleMania…it was silence. There wasn’t 80,000 people screaming, it was complete silence. I was wondering ‘what is going to happen here? Like how are we going to do this?’ And when my music hit and I don’t know what happened. I just slipped straight into the zone.”

Drew would then made some intriguing comments regarding his opponent in the match. “Brock Lesnar came out there and if you saw the look in his eyes? He was ready to go. He’s not phoning this in, he was ready to fight. And if you could have read my mind? You know, people would think I’m insane! But what was really going through my head was ‘if you try any funny business in this match Brock? I will drop where you stand.'”

“It seems a bit crazy to say but that’s exactly what’s going through my head you know?” McIntyre continued. “When I’m out there I’m Drew McIntyre, I’m in the moment, I believe it. And that’s exactly what it was that night. I was in the moment, we had the match, but I also had a special moment after the match when I won the title. Usually it’s a 1, 2, 3 big pop…but it was 1, 2, 3 and silence. I was given the title. I looked at it and I forgot that there was millions of people watching.”

It is interesting that McIntyre would use the phrase ‘funny business’ when it came to Brock. It isn’t common knowledge whether Lesnar takes matters into his own hands in ring, but maybe this is a small insight?
