Drew McIntyre Says WWE Breached His Contract

WWE Undisputed Champion Drew McIntyre has alleged that WWE management is in breach of his professional contract following the announcement of a World Title mattch against Cody Rhodes happening tonight on SmackDown. During an appearance on the Complex Graps podcast, McIntyre claimed that the stipulations of his current agreement explicitly prohibit a rematch with Rhodes under the current circumstances.

McIntyre expressed frustration with the decision-making process involving SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis, whom he described as a “hooligan”.

“It’s BS. It’s as simple as that. I seem to recall there being a certain contract—a little thing I wrote in there. It wasn’t, ‘Cody gets a rematch if Drew decides to interfere in every match for the rest of time’. It says Cody gets no rematch; he has to win the Royal Rumble, he has to win the Elimination Chamber. He won neither. The small print said if Drew does this or Drew does that, then he gets the match. Nick Aldis, that hooligan, made the match, breached a contract, and I’m currently trying to figure it out because this match shouldn’t be happening in the first place.”

The champion indicated that he is consulting with legal representation to address the alleged breach before the scheduled broadcast. McIntyre criticized Aldis’s professionalism, suggesting the General Manager is too “hot-headed” for his administrative role.

“I’m talking to the lawyers; I’m going to figure it out. You saw what happened with Nick; he’s too hot-headed to be a GM for a start. He gets in my face—one of the talent—rips off his jacket. I mean, I’m 6’5″, 280, I could drop him on his a** any second. You get somebody like that in power, somebody like that protecting Cody… as far as I’m concerned, it’s BS and it’s the same old story trying to screw Drew McIntyre.”

Reflections on CM Punk and Cody Rhodes

When questioned about his long-standing rivalries with Cody Rhodes and CM Punk, McIntyre described Punk as a “horrible person” and accused Rhodes of being a “golden boy” who takes shortcuts.

“Punk is the worst human being on planet Earth… he’s a genuinely horrible, horrible person. I won’t take away his toughness, like Cody as well—they can take an absolute beating like no other. Punk defeated me at Hell in a Cell not because he was the better man, but because of severe blood loss and I was breaking my back on the steps. For Cody, he’s a little different in the sense that I know how good he is. He could just rely on his talent, but I don’t know why he just has to be the golden boy, has to take every little shortcut he can, whether it’s on-screen or off-screen.”

The “Last Good Guy” Persona

McIntyre rejected the label of a “heel,” instead positioning himself as the “last good guy” who only deals in facts. He compared Cody Rhodes to the character Jessica Fletcher from Murder, She Wrote.

“I’m not a heel; I’m the last good guy around and the only one that tells the truth. I only deal in facts. Cody Rhodes masquerades as the number one good guy… he’s like Jessica Fletcher. Greatest serial killer of all time; she goes from town to town, there’s a murder, then she magically solves the case. Masquerading as the hero—Jessica Fletcher is exactly like Cody Rhodes.”

Despite the ongoing legal and professional disputes, McIntyre remains focused on his upcoming title defense against Randy Orton at WrestleMania 42. He emphasized his intention to make his current reign “legendary” and to walk into WrestleMania as champion.

“I have to get that one legendary reign. That’s why I’ve got to get through Friday, I’ve got to get through Mania, and I’ve got to keep pushing forward no matter how many obstacles get thrown in my way. Every title match in my opinion should be one-on-one at WrestleMania, and it’s going to be Drew McIntyre and Randy Orton once I get through Cody Rhodes this Friday.”

McIntyre also dismissed recent performance statistics regarding SmackDown’s growth under his leadership as “things I don’t focus on,” asserting that the show has simply been “more interesting” since he became champion.
