Drew McIntyre: There’s A Lot Of Real Feelings In Feud With CM Punk, But We’re Both Professionals

Drew McIntyre and CM Punk have been feuding for most of 2024, dating back to January, when Punk got injured in the Men’s Royal Rumble match in a move with McIntyre.

Two nights later on Raw, McIntyre cut a heated promo, discussing how he prayed Punk would get hurt before laying him. CM Punk screwed McIntyre over at WrestleMania 40 after McIntyre beat Seth Rollins for the World Heavyweight Title as Damian Priest took advantage of Punk’s attack and cashed in Money in the Bank to win the title from McIntyre.

At Money in the Bank, McIntyre won the MITB briefcase and cashed it in during the World Heavyweight Title bout between Damian Priest and Seth Rollins, only to be screwed by CM Punk. While wrestling Priest for the World Title at Clash at the Castle, Punk Punk also screwed McIntyre from winning the championship.

They wrestled a singles match at SummerSlam, where Punk put over McIntyre. At Bash in Berlin, McIntyre did the honors for Punk in a strap match.

While speaking with Mike Johnson of PWInsider, McIntyre discussed the feud with Punk. He noted that while there are real feelings between them, they can work together as they’re both pros.

“I mean, if I had a chance to really think about it, initially, I was pretty annoyed (that CM Punk returned to WWE), but I understand business and I understand why it was done. But, I found it interesting that everybody started going, ‘Oh, it’s obviously going to be this, or obviously going to be this guy.’ I was sitting there thinking, there’s a lot of real history here, and a lot of real feelings I’ve got and if I get the opportunity, I know we could tell the most compelling story of all, because no matter my real feelings, I’m still a professional, you know? He’s still a professional, and we’ve been given the platform to show the world what we can truly do creatively. Our creative team, obviously led by Triple H is very much, you go out there and you take this creative as far as you can take it. You make people feel, you make people believe, and it’s not so hard to make people believe when you truly feel what’s good on-screen, inside and out.”

Punk and McIntyre are expected to headline the Bad Blood PLE next month inside Hell in a Cell.
