A long-expected WrestleMania 41 encounter fueled by personal animosity has now been made official. WWE confirmed via social media this afternoon that Drew McIntyre will go one-on-one with Damian Priest at the upcoming two-night spectacular in Las Vegas. The announcement precedes a scheduled face-to-face confrontation between the rivals on SmackDown this Friday night.
While WWE has not yet announced which night the match will occur, WrestleMania 41 takes place at Allegiant Stadium on Saturday, April 19, and Sunday, April 20. This bout serves as a technical rematch from WrestleMania 40, where Priest famously cashed in his Money in the Bank contract to defeat McIntyre for the World Heavyweight Championship moments after McIntyre had won the title from Seth Rollins.
Their rivalry reignited earlier this year when Priest eliminated McIntyre from the Royal Rumble match. Tensions escalated dramatically on a recent SmackDown when Priest brutally chokeslammed McIntyre onto a car windshield. McIntyre has been sporting an eye patch since legitimately suffering an injury from glass during that attack, adding a visceral layer to his quest for revenge against the man who cost him his championship moment last year.
