Drew McIntyre was legitimately upset following WWE Survivor Series

Drew McIntyre had been frustrated with WWE earlier this year due to creative and his contract, which is slated to expire in 2024. On Saturday night, The Judgment Day (Finn Balor, Damian Priest, Dominik Mysterio) McIntyre & JD McDonagh lost to Seth Rollins, Sami Zayn, Jey Uso, Cody Rhodes & Randy Orton in the Men’s WarGames Match.

The situation

Post-match, McIntyre stormed out of the ring while holding his eye moments before Punk’s music played. It had fans talking, to say the least.

As previously reported, McIntyre stormed to the back before slamming the locker room door and left the arena. McIntyre was reportedly so angry when he got to the back that it became a “loud and obvious situation” that was seen by several people.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted while he’s not sure exactly what McIntyre was upset about, it was a legitimate reaction and not storyline-related.

Fallout

“Yeah, he was very upset. As the night went on, he was less upset. And as far as the reason he left, I don’t want to give any wrong information. I will say that people in the company who told me thought it had to do with [CM] Punk. I cannot confirm that. Only that’s what people in the company thought. But he was legitimately upset about something, whatever it was, I don’t know.”

Meltzer added that it would probably be a great year for McIntyre in 2024 due to his contract coming up and WWE wanting to keep him.
