Earlier this month, WWE announced that EC3 alongside Lars Sullivan, Lacey Evans, Nikki Cross, and Heavy Machinery would be heading to the main roster. WWE has yet to reveal which brands these stars will be featured on.
Once EC3 departed from the WWE around 2013, TNA hired him and found success with the company. A few years later, he signed with WWE once again and was placed in NXT. Now, he’s slated to have one of the biggest breaks of his career.
WWE Hall of Famer Edge stated on a recent episode of the E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness podcast that EC3 reminds him of former WWE Champion John Cena.
This is after Christian, who co-hosts the show, brought up how he thinks EC3 is better suited for the main roster than NXT. Edge responded by stating that he’s not sure how well Cena would’ve done in NXT.
“I think EC3 reminds me of Cena as well, and Elias,” Edge prefaced. “And I think if you were to put Cena on the NXT roster starting out, I don’t know how great it would’ve gone, but you put him on the main roster and you see what happened. I think that’s very similar with EC3, and his skillset, and where he’s at. And I think, not that he didn’t do great in NXT, I just don’t think it’s the best place for a guy like him. I think he’s really kind of going to flourish coming to one of those two shows.”
