Edge reveals his most agonizing match against John Cena

WWE Superstars keep themselves in peak physical condition but they’re still human and susceptible to normal illnesses just like everyone else. But as Superstars, there’s not a lot of time to take sick days especially when you’re the champ.

Edge recently told a story on E&C’s Pod Of Awesomeness about one experience in the ring at a house show that really sticks out in his mind and it was a rather unpleasant event indeed. Edge and John Cena locked up several times but one encounter was especially excruciating for The Ultimate Opportunist.

This story took place on the same day they filmed the angle where Edge attacked John Cena’s father in his home. The Rated R Superstar said he had a house show that evening and was set to wrestle Cena so he jumped on WWE’s private jet and took off to make the show. But before they hit the sky, Edge said he got a bite to eat very quickly and it turns out that might have been his big mistake. Because as it turns out things were about to get intense for Edge even before they made it to the house show in Redding.

“I think I grabbed some pizza, I don’t know and as we’re on the plane I’m like, ‘ah man I don’t feel too good’ and I’d never had food poisoning before so I didn’t really know what it felt like but I was like, ‘this does not feel right at all'” Edge recalled.

“I get into my gear on the plane, I land, go straight to the building and I’m wrestling John [Cena] that night. John and I would generally go 20-25 minutes and I just remember wrestling going, ‘oh no, oh no this is not good. I feel like something has to come out of every orifice right now.’ And I have the cold sweats in the middle of a match like, ‘what’s happening?'”

“I just remember taking bumps and going, ‘oh my god I gotta throw up… oh my god I’m gonna throw up.’ He gave me whirlybird back suplex and I’m like, ‘oh no here it comes, oh no, oh no.’ And I was like chewing it back down you know because I was like, ‘I don’t want some kid scarred for life because they saw Edge take a bump and hurl right up in the air and have it fall back on him.’ No, no one wants to see that.”

“So we get through the match but as soon as it’s done I rolled out right under the ring — so I cheated to win the match because I think I was champ at that point and I rolled out, put my head under the apron, and just f-cking puked everywhere. I didn’t know what else to do. I was like, ‘I gotta do this’ so I just barfed everywhere.”

“And then I wiped my mouth, rolled back in, and fed John to leave the people happy.”

It turns out that night the fans left happy in Redding, but the ring crew might have been a different story when they discovered what Edge had done under the apron.
