Elayna Black (Cora Jade) Nearly Died From Ectopic Pregnancy During WWE Run

Elayna Black, formerly known to WWE fans as Cora Jade, has revealed she underwent emergency surgery in January 2023 for a life-threatening ectopic pregnancy that ruptured, causing internal bleeding. She shared this deeply personal story following her WWE release in May 2025 during an appearance on The Ariel Helwani Show.

Black recounted the harrowing experience: “In January of 2023, I was supposed to wrestle Lyra Valkyria on Tuesday, and long story short I ended up in emergency surgery in the hospital the night before literally almost dying and bleeding out because I had an ectopic pregnancy that had failed and exploded.”

She admitted her initial wrestler’s mentality was to push through, “thinking I just have to get through the match tomorrow,” despite knowing something was wrong.

She explained the medical situation involved her IUD birth control and the known risk of ectopic pregnancies. The emergency surgery resulted in doctors having “to remove my left fallopian tube.”

Black also shared the emotional aftermath, noting she was “bummed about missing Stand & Deliver” that year and stated, “After I came back those few months I was just the most mentally depressed I have ever been in my life.”
