Elayna Black opened up about her journey to TNA Wrestling and why she initially had reservations about joining the promotion. Black, who made her debut on the Impact on AMC premiere on January 15, revealed that the company’s working relationship with WWE played a factor in her decision-making process.
Speaking on Busted Open Radio, Black expressed her history with the brand, noting that it was the first live wrestling event she ever attended.
“I love TNA. I grew up watching both TNA and WWE. My first ever wrestling event was actually a random TNA house show. Last year when I was with NXT, I came to TNA for a few months and I had so much fun. I loved everybody there, I loved the environment, I loved the company, I love the product that they put out,” Black said.
However, following her release from WWE on May 2, 2025, Black admitted she needed space. She wrestled for independent promotions like Black Label Pro and GCW before taking a mental health break in July. She explained that the partnership between WWE and TNA made her pause before committing to a contract.
“More so in the beginning, I was hesitant about coming to TNA just because of how close the relationship was. I kind of felt like I needed to distance myself, which I think it was good me taking that time off. I feel very more removed than I did at the time.”
Despite reports suggesting her deal is for one year, Black indicated that she has no intention of leaving anytime soon. She emphasized her commitment to the promotion and her desire to grow as a performer.
“I’m here for the long run. I don’t plan on going anywhere anytime soon. I want to keep progressing my career in TNA. [My goal is to] have fun and be the best version of Elayna Black I can be.”
