Eric Bischoff: Bret Hart’s Claim That Vince McMahon And Shawn Michaels Were Lovers Is ‘So Bitter’

Eric Bischoff shared concern and disdain for Bret Hart’s latest controversial remarks, in which the former champion claimed that former WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels were lovers.

Bret Hart’s full quote alleged that the relationship between Vince McMahon and Shawn Michaels was intimate and sexual, and that he “got caught between two lovers” during the infamous Montreal Screwjob at Survivor Series in 1997. Bischoff, asked whether he hoped the comment was just a joke, said he does not believe Hart can be funny and that the remarks are evidence of bitterness.

The Claim Is ‘So Bitter’

Hart’s full claim suggested that Shawn Michaels was so envious of Hart’s position in WWE that he “finally had to sleep with Vince to get it”. Bischoff noted that the intensity and consistently negative nature of Hart’s commentary over the last few years point to a deeper personal struggle.

“First of all, I don’t think Bret Hart has the ability to be funny. Maybe he is at times, but I’ve never seen it. Humor is not something that pops into my head when I think of Bret Hart. No, I don’t think he was being funny. I think he’s being bitter, and the reason I feel that way is because of everything that we’ve heard out of Bret Hart for the last couple of years.”

He questioned why Hart is incapable of simply moving on and enjoying his past accomplishments instead of constantly “burying people” and making comparisons.

“I don’t know, man, this is so bitter, like I’m not joking. I think it’s like clinical if I was somewhere close to Bret or someone close to Bret, I I’d suggest maybe go see a therapist or talk to somebody and just leave that baggage behind. Otherwise, your life will be way better if you do.”

A Contrast to Booker T

Bischoff offered Booker T as a perfect contrast to Hart’s behavior. He praised Booker T for moving on from his past disagreements with peers, such as his infamous altercation with Batista, by settling their differences “like a man” and not dwelling on the past.

Bischoff added that he believes Booker T is one of the upper 1% of income earners in the United States and is generally happy, unlike Hart, who is “sitting slumped over in a chair looking like a freaking wino pissing on people that help make you and create the opportunity for you to make the living that you’re so miserable about .” He added by suggesting that Hart’s continuous bitterness is simply “not worth carrying around”.
