Eric Bischoff: “I’m Never Going To Turn Down An Opportunity To Do Anything With WWE. They’re A Class Organization. They Treat You Right”

On the latest episode of the 83 Weeks podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Eric Bischoff opened up about his whirlwind week in professional wrestling. The wrestling veteran made headlines with appearances on WWE’s NXT and Major League Wrestling (MLW), and teased exciting future opportunities.

Eric Bischoff reflected on what was a jam-packed week filled with travel and exciting projects. He shared:

“It was a busy week for sure. I left the house Monday and ended up in Orlando. I did NXT Tuesday night, and then on Wednesday, I filmed an episode for a new series on A&E. I got to work with Mickey James and Undertaker and Sean Waltman and a couple others. It was a lot of fun. I don’t want to give away too much. It’s not my show, but it’s an interesting concept, and I had a lot of fun doing it, so that was really fun. Then I got up early on Wednesday night. I left right after I was done shooting Wednesday in Orlando for WWE for that A&E series. I went right to the airport, jumped on a plane, flew to New York, and did the MLW show Thursday night.”

When asked if he might work with MLW again, Bischoff was careful not to reveal too much but hinted at potential plans:

“Well, I don’t want to spill too much too soon. It’s not my promotion, but I will say that Atlanta is kind of a cool place to be in early February, and rumor has it there’s going to be an MLW show in Atlanta. So, you know, don’t be surprised. I don’t know how much longer I’m going to be doing these live wrestling shows. It takes a lot, you know, because of where I live and everything to get me there and back. So if this is going to be my last live wrestling appearance, it’s kind of cool that I’m going to do it at Center Stage. It’s kind of full circle, so we’ll see. I haven’t made up my mind for sure yet, but if indeed this will be my last live appearance, I’m glad I’m doing it at Center Stage.”

Bischoff also expressed openness to returning for one-off WWE projects, emphasizing his respect for the company:

“Definitely. You know, WWE does it right. If that opportunity were to be presented to me, I’d have to give it serious consideration. Honestly, I don’t want to make it sound like I’m too good for anything, because that’s not the case at all. For me, it’s just very personal in terms of travel. I mean, I say it all the time, and I don’t think people really believe me or understand how committed I am to this, but it’s just so hard for me to travel anymore. My biggest issue is the travel part. I guess it depends on where, when, how often, and that type of thing, but I’m never going to turn down an opportunity to do anything with WWE. They’re a class organization. They treat you right.”

He added:

“I almost always have a great time. I always keep an open mind, for sure, and especially something that’s kind of groundbreaking as is WW ID, you know, to be on the ground floor, that would be something I would be interested in for sure.”

Bischoff did not hold back when addressing Bryan Alvarez allegedly saying that he was on WWE’s payroll. Note that we have not heard or read where Alvarez allegedly said this. Bischoff said the following:

“That’s so funny. I don’t think I’ve ever met Bryan Alvarez, but what a dumb, little motherfuer. Here’s how stupid he is. I mean, you don’t even have to have much experience or common sense to figure this out, but clearly Bryan Alvarez is short on both. I just did two WWE episodes, one on NXT and one for WWE on the A&E Network. Then 48 hours later, or 24 hours later, whatever it was, I’m on an MLW show, who by the way, was in a lawsuit with WWE. Do you think, you stupid little fk, that If I was under contract with WWE, I don’t even have a Legend’s agreement with WWE. I can’t wait for the back pay check to show up.”

He clarified his stance on freelance work in the wrestling world:

“I don’t have a written agreement with anybody. I don’t even have a handshake deal with anybody. If they call, and I’m available, and it sounds fun, I’ll show up. That goes to everybody. If TNA or Impact were to call me and say, ‘Hey, we’re doing something. We’d like you to show up.’ If it fit into my schedule and it sounded fun, I would do it.”

Bischoff didn’t mince words about his critics:

“So again, this is a perfect example of guys like Bryan Alvarez, the needy little fu**ing elf, and his partner, Dave Meltzer, talking out of their ass when they don’t know what they’re talking about, ever. They just don’t know what they’re talking about.”
