Eric Bischoff says Cody Rhodes did what Dusty would have done

Cody Rhodes surprised a lot of people when he left WWE and set out on his own. But all in all, it’s worked out for the best. The second generation superstar is on top of the world in more ways than one. He’s living his dream by making towns for huge matches and big money carrying on the legacy of his father The American Dream.

Eric Bischoff recently brought up Cody’s ROH World Title victory on an episode of his podcast Bischoff On Wrestling. The former Raw GM and head of WCW had some great things to say about how Dusty would be reacting to his son’s success.

“I’m thrilled for [Cody],” Bischoff said. “I’m a huge fan of Christopher Daniels as anyone who listens to this podcast knows — and Frankie Kazarian. While I didn’t get the chance to watch the match — I know I committed to Joe Koff that I would watch it, I will eventually watch it but I was not able to for a lot of reasons. But I’m so happy for Cody. He — you know, did his own thing and he was on the biggest stage in the world, he had the ability and the opportunity to ride that and make the big money and not take any risks. But he did what his father would have done.”

“I knew Dusty Rhodes pretty well. Dusty was a very independent minded person. And if he believed in himself and if he believed in something — he was gonna go with it, and he was gonna take whatever risks came along with that decision. And Cody — although I don’t know him, I haven’t seen Cody since he was a little kid — but I feel like I know him through his father and through the way he conducts himself based on what I can see and what I read based on social media. I’m so proud of him though.”

“He’s truly his father’s son right now and I just know Dusty Rhodes has got a big ‘ole smile on his face. He’s wearing his big ‘ole beat-up cowboy boots and a pair of Wranglers with a pinch in his mouth and a beer in his hand and he’s just smiling away.”
