Eric Bischoff Talks Rob Gronkowski Joining WWE

Former SmackDown Executive Director and co-host of the 83 Weeks podcast Eric Bischoff recently discussed WWE signing NFL star Rob Gronkowski.

Eric Bischoff on Gronk

Bischoff was asked about Gronkowski signing during this week’s episode of After 83 Weeks w/ Christy Olson. “You know, he’s a great athlete, obviously” Bischoff began. “Let’s state the obvious right off the bat. He’s a great athlete, but he’s also a great character. No, I don’t know Rob, I’ve never been around him. But I know a number of people who are very close to me who have. And all of them, you know, the first thing that they say when they meet him is what a great character.”

“Larger Than Life Personality”

Eric Bischoff would elaborate further, saying “he’s a larger than life personality. So, you know, you take a pretty high profile brand in Rob Gronkowski; and you acknowledge that he’s an elite athlete, and then you mix in a high quotient of character? I don’t know, seems to me like something really exciting could happen.”

SmackDown Debut for Gronk?

According to The Wrap, the former New England Patriots tight end will be appearing on WWE SmackDown March 20th. Although it is not confirmed as of writing if that show will be taking place. This week’s episode of SmackDown will be filmed at the WWE Performance Center in Florida. Gronkowski previously appeared for WWE at WrestleMania 33, where he helped his friend Mojo Rawley win a Battle Royal.

‘Gronk’ is also expected to appear at WrestleMania 36 next month from Tampa. Again, it is not confirmed if WrestleMania is still to go ahead following the outbreak of the coronavirus, however WWE are still currently planning on going ahead with their biggest show of the year.
