WWE has announced that Eric Bischoff will be inducting Diamond Dallas Page into the 2017 class of the WWE Hall of Fame, which takes place on Friday, March 31 and airs live on the WWE Network.
Page and Bischoff’s relationship goes back to the late ‘80s as they started out in pro wrestling in the AWA. Bischoff and DDP also worked together in WCW.
Bischoff told WWE.com that he is honored and that it puts a smile on his face because he knows how much it means to DDP. He noted that this is the holy grail for DDP. Bischoff noted that DDP had a larger-than-life personality and he had a different connection with the fans. Bischoff added that it’s a little overwhelming in some respects to induct DDP into the Hall of Fame. He noted that he would save the reasons why for the ceremony itself because the reasons are very personal and poignant.
Rock ‘n’ Roll Express (Ricky Morton and Robert Gibson), Teddy Long, Kurt Angle, Beth Phoenix, and Rick Rude have already been announced as inductees for this year’s class of the Hall of Fame.
