Eva Marie is the guest on the latest “Oral Sessions with Renee Paquette” podcast.
Eva Marie talked about debuting on a reality show, nuclear heat, her stint in Hollywood, Doudrop, and more.
Here are some highlights:
Renee asked Eva Marie, “Was it difficult for you to be so public about your alcoholism and addiction issues?”
Eva said, “I think it was one of those things, in 2013, jumping into WWE, doing the Diva Search, getting a developmental deal, then going from a developmental contract to all of a sudden on to the main roster and on top of that, Total Divas, it was like game time decision in the sense of something that I used to be so ashamed and embarrassed about, and don’t want anyone to know.
Also, I didn’t want anybody to take that power away from me, so I felt it was really important for me to have that narrative put out into the public first. That way I took the power away from anybody else. I told my story first on Season 1 of Total Divas. I think that’s where I’m grateful to the show, to showcase those types of real issues. I think that’s also another thing where social media is one of those things where you pick and choose how much you want to share what you do or what you don’t want to, and hopefully navigate those squiggly lines as best you can.’
Eva Marie was asked who reached out to who to come back to WWE:
“I had a conversation with Vince via email. That’s how it started. I always kept in contact via email about things I was doing outside of WWE, making sure he was fully aware that Eva Marie was ready and willing to come back whenever you see fit. That door is open on my end. It’s one of those things that if you want something, go ask for it or go get it, and make sure that other person or avenue knows about it so that way they’re not fully closed off. What’s the worst that can happen? You’re just in the position you were in before originally.”
