Eva Marie: Second WWE Run Was ‘A Little Bit Odd Because It Was Supposed To Be Longer Than That’

During an interview with Chris Van Vliet on Insight, Eva Marie described her second WWE release as a confusing situation involving management changes. Within just a few months of her return to the RAW brand in 2021, Marie was again released from her contract. She stated that the run was intended to last much longer than it did.

“That one is actually f****ng a little bit odd, because it was supposed to be longer than that, and it wasn’t. But I think there is going to be changing of hands in management, and that’s kind of what happened with my contract. So it kind of got messed up within kind of that communication,” Marie said.

During her second run, Marie was paired with Doudrop, who is now known as Piper Niven. The partnership lasted for only seven matches and ended with Doudrop defeating her on the September 20, 2021 episode of RAW. Since her release, Marie has continued to focus on acting and fitness projects, while expressing an interest in returning to the company if the right creative opportunity arises.

Current plans for the WWE women’s division have seen several new call-ups from NXT, including Sol Ruca and Jordynne Grace. While Marie has not been linked to a specific return date in 2026, she continues to maintain a positive relationship with the company and has been supportive of the current period of transition on social media.
