Finish to Seth Rollins vs. LA Knight Match Changed Due to Injury

As was noted earlier, Seth Rollins suffered what appears to be a legitimate knee injury during his match against LA Knight at tonight’s WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event. PWInsider reports that the injury forced a last-second change to the finish of the match. Obviously, this has put his upcoming creative plans in question.

A Last-Second Change

According to WWE sources cited in the report, the original plan for the match was for Seth Rollins to defeat LA Knight. However, after Rollins tweaked his knee during the bout, a call was made to end the match quickly to prevent further injury.

The finish was changed on the fly, with LA Knight hitting his BFT finisher and scoring a quick, decisive pinfall victory over Rollins. As noted on the broadcast by Michael Cole, Rollins was helped to the back by officials and medical personnel.

An Uncertain Future

There is currently no word on the severity of the injury, but the report indicates that all signs point to it being legitimate and not part of a storyline. The potential loss of Rollins for any significant period of time would create a major issue for WWE creative.

Rollins, along with his new faction featuring Paul Heyman, Bron Breakker, and Bronson Reed, was being pushed as a top act on the Raw brand. A long-term injury would not only halt his group’s momentum but would also require significant changes to be made to the planned card for the upcoming SummerSlam premium live event in August. We wish Seth Rollins a full and speedy recovery.
