Finn Balor got the chance to share the ring with Roman Reigns on Friday’s episode of WWE SmackDown when he challenged “The Tribal Chief” for the Universal Championship.
Despite his best efforts and it even seemed as if Balor could pull it off storyline-wise, Reigns locked in the guillotine choke for the submission win as Balor passed out.
Before the match, Balor did an interview with Sports Illustrated and put over Reigns. Balor started out by talking about how the world has been talking trash about Reigns and his abilities, but he knows from experience that Reigns is special.
“He was operating on a different level that people didn’t quite fully understand. Now people are learning he is a once-in-a-lifetime talent. Roman’s proven that over and again, and the masses have accepted and acknowledged that ability and growth. His presence is just unimaginable right now.”
After their match on Friday’s SmackDown, an interesting sound clip played along with a brief change in color of the lights. For more on that spoiler news, check it out here.
