This week’s episode of WWE NXT kicked off with Finn Balor vs. Adam Cole to determine who would be the NXT Championship after last week’s Iron Man 4-Way Match ended in a tie.
They put on an excellent match and it was faced paced from the start with both men going move for move as it was clear that they were trying to make things right for fans who complained about last week’s Iron Man Match not having a finish.
Similar to a TakeOver match, there were a lot of kick outs from finishing moves including Cole kicking out after the Coup de Grace about 25 minutes into the match. Balor also kicked out after taking Cole’s Last Shot (running knee) to the back of the head. Balor won the title by hitting the 1916 off the top rope and pinning Cole.
After the commercial break, Balor was shown backstage being congratulated by Cole and other wrestlers. Cole and Balor gave each other the “too sweet” gesture.
