The Los Angeles-based independent wrestling promotion Circle 6 made its Canadian debut this past weekend, and the event ended in a chaotic scene on the streets of downtown Vancouver. The promotion’s “Barroom Blitz: Vancouver” show, held in partnership with No Fate Wrestling at The Pearl, was forced to evacuate during the main event due to a fire alarm, leading to the match concluding on Granville Street amidst police cars and fire trucks. The main event pitted Team FUBAR, consisting of Rob Shit, Matthew Justice, and former WWE star Shotzi Blackheart, against Martial Law (Judge Joe Dred, Alex Colon, and Dave Reckoning). A green smoke canister triggered the venue’s fire alarm at the peak of the brawl, forcing a full evacuation of the building.
The six competitors continued their match outside on the street. This was described to us a memorable moment where “Justice and Blackheart scaled a vendor’s hot dog cart and launched themselves into the melee below, igniting the Vancouver crowd in pandemonium”.
The show featured several other notable matches and moments. In a “no ring match,” deathmatch performer Casanova Valentine defeated the Pacific Northwest legend Bigfoot. In another high spot, Facade was victorious over Miles DeVille after performing a frog splash from The Pearl’s balcony.
The event also included a surprise appearance from former WWE star Chris Masters. During the show, Masters appeared and applied his infamous “Master Lock” full nelson submission to the manager of Circle 6 Champion Judge Joe Dred as part of a Master Lock Challenge.
In a women’s trios match billed as “Circle 6 x No Fate Showdown,” the team of Su Yung, Tara Zep, and Lindsay Snow was victorious over a team representing No Fate wrestling.
Shaun Hoff of Circle 6 PR commented on the eventful evening in the press release. “This was exactly what Circle 6 is all about — unpredictable, raw, and unforgettable,” Hoff stated. “Vancouver gave us the kind of energy you can’t manufacture. This is just the beginning of Circle 6 in Canada.” Circle 6 is known for its unique blend of wrestling, live music, and “no-ring” bar fights. Check out the video below.
