First match announced for next week’s WWE Friday Night SmackDown episode

The first match for next week’s episode of WWE Friday Night SmackDown episode has been set.

Lacey Evans vs. Sasha Banks in a singles match has been announced. This was a match that had been mentioned during NFL On FOX coverage this past weekend but didn’t take place on this week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown in Memphis, TN at the FedExForum on FOX.

Instead, Banks teamed with SmackDown Women’s Champion Bayley in a triple threat tag team match along with Alexa Bliss & Nikki Cross, and the winners, Lacey Evans & Dana Brooke.

It was hyped on commentary that the winners of this bout could move closer to receiving a WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles shot from Asuka & Kairi Sane at a later date.

It’s been reported that WWE plans to hold Evans vs. Bayley for the SmackDown Women’s title at the WWE Royal Rumble pay-per-view on January 26 but the company has yet to announce the match.
