First match announced for next week’s WWE SmackDown

The first match has been announced for next week’s episode of Friday Night SmackDown.

WWE confirmed on today’s episode of Talking Smack that Shinsuke Nakamura is set to face off with Roman Reigns’ cousin Jey Uso.

This comes after Nakamura failed to become the number one contender to Reigns’ Universal Championship on Friday’s show when he ended up outlasting Daniel Bryan, Baron Corbin, and Rey Mysterio in a Gauntlet Match.

Authority figure Adam Pearce won the gauntlet after being forced into the match by Reigns due to “The Big Dog” being upset with him for booking Uso vs. Kevin Owens on last week’s show. In storyline, it was stated that Paul Heyman pulled some strings to get Pearce added to the match.

Uso and Reigns beatdown Nakamura after he had defeated Bryan. Reigns threw Pearce into the ring and Uso hit a superkick to him before placing Pearce on top of Nakamura.

Pearce is currently in line to challenge for Reigns’ Universal Championship at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view event on Sunday, January 31.
