Alex Shelley will make his WWE NXT TV debut next week as part of the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament but he made his in-ring debut for the company at a live event on Friday night.
Shelley reunited with Kushida at the show in Pittsburgh and they defeated The Forgotten Sons. Shelley and Kushida previously wrestled in New Japan Pro Wrestling as The Time Splitters and they will wrestle on Wednesday night against The Grizzled Young Veterans in the Dusty Classic.
Although this is being classified as his WWE debut, Shelley had at least one tryout match over a decade ago. He lost to Simon Dean on the international version of WWE Heat in 2005.
There was talk of Shelley possibly being signed for a behind-the-scenes role in October when he was brought in for a guest stint as a coach at the Performance Center. There is no word on if Shelley has signed with WWE or if he will just be around for the Dusty Classic.
