- WWE is holding a tryout this week at the Performance Center in Orlando, FL and a few notable names received an invitation to it. Current World of Stardom Champion Io Shirai is at the tryout. It was first reported by Dave Meltzer last October that Shirai and Kairi Hojo had been offered deals to start with WWE in 2017. At the time, it was reported that both stars decided to stay with Stardom, but it was noted in last week’s Wrestling Observer newsletter that Hojo had signed a three-year contract with WWE. It was also noted that Shirai was reconsidering coming in as well.
Also, former Impact Wrestling star Wes Brisco, who is the son of WWE legend Gerald Brisco, is at the tryout. Brisco signed a developmental contract with WWE back in 2009 and worked in FCW until 2011. He joined Impact in 2012 and departed in 2014.
