WWE continues to sign athletes to its developmental program, this time tapping into the world of pro football.
For the last several years, WWE’s strategy to develop talent has been to sign athletes with no pro wrestling background and also sign talent who have worked in other promotions for its NXT brand with hopes of making it to the main roster one day. A former Miami Dolphins cornerback has joined the company.
According to Bobby Shouse of The Dive Bar podcast, Trill Williams has signed with WWE. He went undrafted after playing safety at Syracuse. In 2021, he signed with the New Orleans Saints before being waived and claimed by the Dolphins.
The following August, he suffered a torn ACL and was waived by the Dolphins in August 2023. Fans may have missed his first appearance on WWE NXT this week.
There was a backstage segment with Ashante ‘Thee’ Adonis and Dion Lennox. In the background, Williams could be seen. It’s unclear when he will make his in-ring debut as of this writing.
Former Dolphin Trill Williams has signed with the @WWE & will pursue a career in Wrestling.
Trill originally attended a tryout for the @WWE over the summer & has since began working with the company.
