Another former UFC heavyweight champion could be on his way to the world of professional wrestling.
Already having the services of Brock Lesnar, who is currently the company’s Universal Champion, WWE seems to have intrigued former UFC heavyweight king Cain Velasquez with a possible career in professional wrestling. On Thursday news broke that the Mexican star was at the WWE Performance Center in Orlando.
Velasquez did some wrestling drills with PC coach Norman Smiley, participated in a DDP Yoga session led by Hall Of Famer Diamond Dallas Page himself and worked out in the PC weight room. He then attended an NXT taping at Full Sail Live. Velasquez said he has been a WWE fan since he was a kid and called the experience at the WWE Performance Center “amazing”:
“My experience here has been amazing. I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”
According to a report from ESPN’s MMA insider Ariel Helwani, Velasquez enjoyed his time spent with WWE and is open to “options.” He also noted that Velasquez, who has dealt with a string of injuries that have kept him out of the Octagon regularly over the years, is healthier than he has been in a while:
Velasquez enjoyed his time there, I’m told, and is open to “options.” He is healthier than he’s been in a while. His team wouldn’t comment on his contract status though. https://t.co/FHLDUrtAlY
