Former UFC Heavyweight Champion Cain Velasquez trained at the WWE Performance Center this week

It seems like more MMA fighters are looking at WWE as an option these days. Cris Cyborg, Daniel Cormier, Paige VanZant and others have expressed interest in working for WWE and now a two-time UFC World Heavyweight Championship is taking his first step into the world of pro wrestling.

Cain Velasquez was at last night’s NXT TV tapings in Orlando and now WWE has confirmed that he trained at the Performance Center earlier that day. He was coached by former WCW star Norman Smiley and he participated in a DDP Yoga session led by Diamond Dallas Page.

Velasquez has been one of UFC’s top pay-per-view draws and many fans might remember that he was one of the few men to defeat Brock Lesnar in the Octagon. Velasquez is a lifelong WWE fan so he must have been thrilled to be able to get the opportunity.

“My experience here has been amazing,” he said in an interview with WWE.com. “I’m just looking forward to being here and learning as much as I can. I’ve been a fan of the sport since I was a little kid, and now I get to participate in it.”

It’s unclear if Velasquez and WWE plan on working together in the future but the doors have opened for MMA fighters in recent years so anything is possible.
