Former WCW/TNA star Daffney has passed away

We are sad to report that Shannon Spruill, known to wrestling fans as Daffney, has passed away.

Daffney got her start on the national stage in WCW playing the role of the girlfriend of David Flair and the manager of Crowbar. Her run was considered by many to be one of the bright spots during the final years of the promotion.

She continued to work on the independent scene until signing with TNA Wrestling in 2008, playing the role of the Sarah Palin parody character The Governor before settling back into the familiar Daffney role.

During her time in TNA, she suffered multiple concussions and she sued the company for putting her in an “unsafe working environment.” The lawsuit was settled out of court in 2013. She was very open about the health issues that resulted from her time in the wrestling business.

On a personal note, I want to say thank Daffney for being such a great person when I met her backstage at TNA.

We send along condolences to Daffney’s friends and family.
