News regarding the return of former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal making a return to in-ring action has surfaced.
Chris Featherstone reached out to Mahal to ask about his status in the wake of the mass WWE talent releases as well as the status of his injury. Featherstone noted that Mahal told him that he is currently “cleared and waiting.”
Earlier this week, WWE decided to release both wrestlers and employees due to the economic impact of the coronavirus.
Wrestlers like Drake Maverick, Karl Anderson, Luke Gallows, Zack Ryder, Curt Hawkins, No Way Jose, and others were let go. Click here for the complete list of names released.
Mahal has been out of in-ring competition since June of last year where he was last seen in action against Ali at a WWE live event.
The former WWE Champion suffered a knee injury that forced him to undergo surgery and is currently recovering. Mahal has been teasing on social media that he’s getting closer to making an in-ring return.
With the company keeping him under contract while releasing other stars, perhaps he gets a phone call to come back to work soon.
