Former WWE Champion Reportedly Signs Contract Extension

A new report has provided a potential update on the WWE contract status of former two-time WWE Champion AJ Styles. According to a report from Fightful Select, “The Phenomenal One” has told those close to him that he signed a one-year extension with the company.

The report notes that there is no clarity on when the extension was signed or when it is set to expire. This follows comments Styles made in April 2022, where he mentioned he had picked up an option to extend his contract, though the length was not specified at the time. It is also unknown if WWE has added any time to the deal due to his lengthy injury-related absences.

Styles, who recently turned 48, has stated publicly this year that he promises to retire from in-ring competition before he turns 50. He has also expressed a desire to continue working for WWE in a different capacity after he hangs up his boots. His last match was on the June 16 episode of Monday Night Raw.
