Randy Orton faced a surprise opponent at WWE WrestleMania 41 – Night 2 from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, NV, after Kevin Owens was sidelined due to a serious neck injury. That opponent turned out to be TNA World Heavyweight Champion Joe Hendry.
Leading up to the event, speculation had suggested potential opponents like the returning Rusev or Aleister Black. Some fans also hoped for a WrestleMania moment for SmackDown General Manager Nick Aldis.
Orton defeated Hendry quickly with an RKO. Cory Hays of PW Nexus reports that Jeff Hardy, currently contracted with TNA Wrestling, was also among the names discussed as a possible opponent for Orton.
This consideration highlights the ongoing partnership between WWE and TNA, allowing such crossover appearances.
