1:10 PM UPDATE: We are sad to report that Brian Christopher Lawler has passed away.
ORIGINAL: We are sad to report that Brian Christopher Lawler was rushed to the hospital after he was found in his jail cell last night after hanging himself. The situation is said to be very dire and he is not expected to recover. Family members were called so they could say their goodbyes. The news was confirmed to us by one of his close friends. His brother Kevin began posting photos of himself and Brian last night and it led to some concern among friends, family, and fans.
His friends and family had worried about him for years due to his substance abuse issues. Lawler was arrested in February 2009 for disorderly conduct and again in June 2009 for public intoxication. He was jailed for 30 days and ordered to attend an in-patient rehab center. His issues did not end there because he was involved in a fight with former TNA star Chase Stevens in a hotel in February 2018. He was so badly beaten that his face looked unrecognizable. Earlier this month, he was arrested again for a DUI and evading police. The latest arrest is the reason why he was in jail. I remember when he returned in a 2011 segment on Raw with Michael Cole and his father Jerry “The King” Lawler and people remarked how he didn’t look well. His last WWE appearance was back in February 2014 with Scotty 2 Hotty in a losing effort against The Ascension at NXT Arrival.
Lawler is a former WWF Tag Team Champion with Scotty 2 Hotty. The team, known as Too Cool, was one of the most popular acts during the Attitude Era. Sadly, his career was never the same primarily because of his issues outside of the ring.
There are rumors online that he has already passed away but that was not confirmed to us as of this posting.
