Former WWE star debuting at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door PPV?

There’s a lot of speculation on who will be Zack Sabre Jr’s opponent tomorrow night at the AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door pay-per-view and all signs point to a former WWE star making his debut.

As many of you saw on AEW Dynamite, Bryan Danielson had to pull out of the match with Sabre Jr because he is not cleared to wrestle but he promised that a mystery opponent would step up to take his place. The mystery opponent will also be named as the newest member of the Blackpool Combat Club and he will be wrestling in the Blood and Guts match this coming Wednesday on Dynamite.

Immediately after Danielson’s announcement, Cesaro (Claudio Castagnoli) began trending on social media because there have been rumors that he would be debuting in AEW soon. Also, out of the free agent names available, he is the person who fits best in the Blackpool Combat Club and he and Danielson are long-time friends.

There is more fuel to the rumors today as Fightful is reporting that Cesaro has been seen in Orlando multiple times in recent weeks and he’s been training for his in-ring return at the Flatbacks Wrestling School that is owned by Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears.

Things seem to be aligning for Claudio’s in-ring return. He has not taken independent dates since leaving WWE in February and he recently changed his name to CSRO on his social media accounts. The CSRO name has also been trademarked by him. Tony Khan has also stated publicly that he’s a big fan of Claudio and he has been open to signing him.
