For months, there have been rumors about a former WWE NXT Champion returning to the ring and those rumors have centered around AEW or a possible return to WWE.
Whatever is going on with Johnny Gargano, his latest social media post seems to hint that he is ready to return. While anything is possible and an AEW debut is possible, most signs seem to point toward him returning to WWE and possibly being part of the main roster.
Gargano last wrestled at the NXT WarGames show last December and WWE wanted him to stay but he opted to allow his contract to expire so he could spend time at home with his then-pregnant wife Candice LeRae and so he could figure out what he wanted to do with his career.
At the time of his exit from WWE, the feeling was that if he was moved to the main roster, he wouldn’t be pushed higher than the lower part of the card because Vince McMahon did not favor people that are his size.
Now with Triple H running creative, the odds of him returning as part of Raw or SmackDown have greatly increased. Gargano has been in touch with Shawn Michaels since his WWE departure and he is said to be open to returning.
