Former WWE star hired as Performance Center coach

WWE has hired Kenn Doane to work as a coach at the Performance Center.

Pwinsider.com reported the news today. It was noted the former WWE star has been working at the training facility for the last several weeks. Also, Doane noted in his Twitter bio that he’s now a coach at the WWE Performance Center. Doane previously appeared in a backstage segment on an episode of NXT last month.

Doane is best known for his run in WWE as he spent time as a member of the Spirit Squad. While with the group, he won the World Tag Team Championships in 2006. When the faction was ended, he became a singles wrestler under the name Kenny Dykstra. He was released in 2008.

Doane made a return to the company in 2016 with fellow Spirit Squad member Mikey as a tag team in alliance with The Miz, who was feuding with Dolph Ziggler at the time. The storyline reason for them to return was due to Ziggler also being a former member of the Spirit Squad. They teamed together for a brief amount of time before WWE stopped using them again.

Doane announced this past April that he had retired from in-ring action.
